At Stord Folkehøgskule, you’ll have the opportunity to become fluent in Norwegian, make lifelong friends, and explore Norwegian culture.

The Norwegian course is suitable for both beginners and students with some prior knowledge of the language. In the first semester, we focus on basic grammar and the use of everyday language, both spoken and written. In the second semester, students build on their vocabulary and grammatical skills to further expand their knowledge of the language. Immersion in the Norwegian way of life significantly enhances the learning experience. This is a boarding school where the majority of students are Norwegian—you’ll have a unique opportunity to practice Norwegian. We’re located on the beautiful west coast, nestled between majestic fjords, scenic mountains, and historic towns. Throughout the year, you’ll travel and experience Norway’s stunning natural beauty in all its glory. You’ll experience the food and culture, visit historic sites, and have the opportunity to go skiing, sailing, and enjoy beautiful mountain hikes. At school, you’ll be integrated with Norwegian students through shared academic courses, living arrangements, and the opportunity to participate in daily activities together.

ICELAND

Iceland boasts a diverse, dramatic, and unspoiled landscape featuring glaciers, hot springs, and mighty waterfalls, making the trip a unique experience that will leave you with memories to last a lifetime. This exotic landscape offers many opportunities for relaxation and exciting activities. Iceland’s landscape is diverse and exotic, and in nature you can see the traces of how the elements have shaped Iceland through volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and erosion. Over 11 percent of the country is covered by magnificent glaciers. The largest is Vatnajökull (8,400 square kilometers and 1,000 meters thick). On the minibus tour around the island, you’ll get to experience well-known tourist destinations, but it’s even more exciting to discover lesser-known yet equally spectacular places. There are many beautiful photo spots in the magnificent Icelandic landscape! Bathing in different hot springs every day, unique nature experiences, and fascinating stories. Price: 19,000 NOK

EXPLORE THE HARDANGER FJORD

This is a guided tour where you’ll have the opportunity to try Via Ferrata climbing and canyoning in Åkrafjorden. We’ll drive through stunning fjord landscapes with dramatic mountains and beautiful viewpoints. We’ll stop along the way at exciting destinations and go on hikes, swim in the fjord, build a campfire, and cook over the fire. We’ll visit Voss (the Norwegian Center for Extreme Sports), where you can go whitewater rafting on the river. During the trip, we’ll have the chance to see Vøringsfossen, glaciers, and waterfalls, and we’ll drive along the National Tourist Route on the Folgefonn Peninsula. We’ll cross the Hardangerfjord both by ferry and over bridges. The trip lasts four days, but we’ll make memories that last a lifetime.
